Daniel Defense Modular Float Rail Installation Instructions
Posted on by admin
While waiting for my back-ordered Colt 6920 I have some time to speculate and research on what upgrades I want.
At some point I know I'm going to want to mount some accessories, after a quality optic and BUIS that can be mounted on the top rail, a light and a VFG come to mind. This means some type of hand guard rail.
As I wanted to keep the rifle as modular as possible I was not considering a traditional free-float style of hand guard rail as it requires either special tools or an armorer to install. But with standard two piece rails I loose the precision to mount optics on them.
However when I came across the DD Omega rail. It seems I can get the best of both worlds. A free float rail that is solid enough to mount optics but is easy and semi-quick to install with common hand tools.
My questions is does the DD Omega live up to it's clam of being sturdy enough to mount optics if I decide I want my optic farther down or want to add a magnifier?
If so I'm willing to spend the extra $70-100 for the DD vs a YHM or Midwest Industries two piece setup.
P.S. I know I'm the only one who cares. But this is Post 742 for me on this forum. My Boy Scout Troop 742 met at American Legion Post 742 in Fairview, PA. Also 7:42 AM was the morning bell for homeroom in my High School. Maybe I should play the lottery today with that number.
